Living in a different country has its ups and downs. Petra and Hanno know this very well, since they have been living in many different countries during their 7 years they’ve spent together. Petra told me during one of our conversations how they have decided to move to the next country where one of them would get a job opportunity that they can’t say no to. That’s how they have ended up in Finland, Hanno’s home country.

But what can one do if the families are so far apart that organising a wedding is difficult? Organise two! Or in their case, elope in Helsinki and get officially married before heading to Hungary to celebrate with their loved ones.

On a rather rainy and chilly spring day they’ve made their way down to the city hall to become officially husband and wife with a few of their close relatives. It was a small and intimate ceremony and we took some quick portraits in front of Aleksanterin teatteri. I really liked these moments, because I can relate very well: living away from my country and getting married soon in the exact same way! Saying yes to a life with one and other is an experience one will remember all their life.

After this ceremony they’ve traveled to Hungary to have a reception and threw a party that lasted until daybreak.
